And then she awoke to a productive morning

Today marks the last day of my “summer break” with my classes at DeVry. Tomorrow I begin my final English class, Technical Writing. I can’t imagine it being much different than some of what I was trained to do in a previous job but I will still have to focus and bust out a kick ass grade. I really like those grades :) they make me happy. For the last few weeks I had been active and productive off and on but took a bit of time during this break to slow down and relax. Last Wednesday was the 4th of July (I know, you have a calendar and already knew that, just go with me) and I really didn’t make any plans for it this year. The last few years I had been in San Diego and went too the county fair with my dad and grandparents for it and before that when I was here in Virginia I would spend the day someplace like Mt Vernon where I would watch the re-enactment of the inauguration of President Washington. But this year I knew I had to work and the heat has been melting my brain so I never got around to making plans. But they materialized in the afternoon and I actually had a really great night that successfully blew my focus for the next couple of days. I got my focus back a bit last night at work but then, had I not been focusing while doing all that heavy lifting I think I’d have a broken appendage or two. Work went well, and fast last night and I got out about 15 mins early so I got home closer to 11pm.

Usually I would sleep until about 8 on Saturdays to rest up from the heavy lifting of Friday night shipment processing since I don’t normally make it to bed until close to 1am but today I didn’t. I woke up without my alarm around 6am. I remained lazily in bed for about 20mins before realizing that I had the chance to go out and walk without sweating to death. So I rolled out of bed and pulled on my workout clothes including a rather ill-fated pair of shorts I doubt I’ll attempt to walk in again for the way they creeped up on me and my walking shoes. Luckily I just charged my iPod up fully yesterday so I strapped it on my arm and ran out the door. Just to turn around and come back in for my directions (I still don’t know this neighborhood well enough to go without them).  As I headed out I tried jogging a bit and found that felt pretty comfortable with it until my shorts worked their evil magic and started making me uncomfortable.  It was about 74º when I left and it actually continued to warm up as I was out. I only walked a little over a mile but in that short time it got up to almost 80º. When I got home I did a brief yoga set and then made breakfast. All of this actually fit into the time between I woke up and the time I was planning to get up. I currently feel like I could do a lot more but I have to be at work again at 10am and have more heavy lifting to do there. If not for this bloody heat wave (today is supposed to be over 100º) I would be outside doing whatever I could find to do. Maybe I’ll come home from work with enough energy left to do some more yoga. I’m feeling so good right now I think another round today will only add to the awesomeness.

For now, as I fear the heat a bit since I’ve already had heat stroke a few times in my life I will keep my heiney inside and sort and edit photos and organize my iTunes. Maybe I’ll get my other laptop set up finally since I lacked the focus to deal with it two days ago. Hmm…. I’ll find something to do.
